There were many blogs out there that raised talks of Facebook emulating Skype’s style by turning down $750 million for $2 billion. There were also many entries of Yahoo! talking with Facebook about acquiring them for $1 billion. One thing that Facebook does not mind doing is allowing billion dollar companies to advertise on their website. This is proven by the ad, Skype U on the Facebook:

This is not the first multi-billion dollar corporation to promote themselves on Facebook. Microsoft and Apple have advertised with Facebook as well. Microsoft took it to the next level by buying an exclusive advertising partnership with Facebook until 2009 for an undisclosed amount.

Niklas Zennström, Founder of Skype has billions of company dollars to play with and advertising with Facebook is definetely a worthy investment. The college demographic is a smart demographic to invest in as many college students are penny pinchers and would like to save money on making calls anyway possible.
