I signed up for an account to test out MedBillManager (which is currently in Alpha phase), but should be released in Beta soon enough. The concept behind this website seems to be very interesting.

For those who make frequent trips to the doctor and has issues with serving as the liaison between doctors and insurance companies, MedBillManager is for you! MedBillManager helps you stay organized by acting as an online medical bill file manager.

Adding records is a cinch. First you add a person whose bills you want to track. Then you input service dates, insurance company names, type of insurance, and then mark the health issue that was checked. Lastly, users input the various expenses that may be associated with the new record such as mileage.

A developing feature of MedBillManager is the ability to Compare Bills so that you can view other MedBillManager users’ payments, medical bills, and insurance statements. This will be implemented while respecting all forms of anonymity. This feature should be interesting because I believe that users can leverage the information they gain from bill comparisons to negotiate prices with the billing department at doctor offices or with insurance providers.

MedBillManager utilizes tagging features by having the user input keywords for different records so this makes the internal search engine efficient. For example, when I had to work abroad in India, I had to receive a Tetanus vaccination shot, so if I were to input this expense in MedBillManager, then I could mark the keyword “Tetanus” in the file and later be able to easily dig up the record later by searching for “Tetanus.”

MedBillManager helps solve everyday problems for millions of people since everyday there are millions of people that have to see a doctor for whatever reasons. This is why I think MedBillManager will grow rapidly and VCs should keep their eyes on it along with entrepreneurial doctors interested in something to invest in.
