This duo of husband-wife entrepreneurs, Edwin Ong and Alex Vikati, have definetely stood by the quote, “Behind every good man, there’s a great woman.” Edwin & Alex had built and sold FileFish Inc to the #2 computer software company, Oracle Corporation on June 11, 2003. This occurred after the couple secured $4.6 million in funding by SOFTBANK Venture Capital (now known as Mobius) and a managing director of the VC firm, Scott Russell had joined the FileFish Board in 2001.

FileFish Inc was a developer of CMS solutions and specialized in data access applications. Right now it is unclear what Oracle is doing with FileFish technology.

The next two products being released by Edwin & Alex, CastTV and CastPost, revolve around search technologies. CastTV has been receiving quite a bit of publicity, including from TechCrunch. The basic premise of the technology surrounding CastTV (currently in alpha) is to collect data (including tags) that is found on various video website sources such as YouTube and iTunes and then centralizing the hyperlinks of these videos to the CastTV website. CastPost (also in alpha testing) is similar to CastTV, but revolves more around a community that shares personal video clips. However, CastTV and CastPost are interconnected and together they make a killer video search duo.

Edwin & Alex began collaborating while serving as co-managers at their place of student residence during their tenure as Stanford University undergrads. Between the both of them they have worked for CNET, DoubleClick, and ThinkLink. Currently the both of them live in San Francisco and are proud parents of two children.

According to Edwin & Alex’s CastBlog, the latest news is that Alex will be previewing CastTV at Microsoft’s Silicon Valley campus for Search SIG which will be moderated by top notch tech bloggers, Om Malik of GigaOm and Niall Kennedy. CastPost had won the “Top Innovator Demo” at OnHollywood 2006 on May 3, 2006. CastTV and CastPost are under the parent company, Broad Holdings LLC.
