Today, October 9, 2006 will now be known as “Video Mayhem Monday.” Why is this? Because today is the day that hundreds of articles are speculating that Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) may buy YouTube based off a rumor. Microsoft also recently made a deal for its video services. While the media is guessing whether Google will buy YouTube, a few Google and YouTube side deals took place.

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Blinkx TV partnered so that Blinkx would power video search under Microsoft’s online establishments MSN and Live.com along with the upcoming MSN Soapbox.

It was announced that YouTube signed a deal for a Burger King & P. Diddy (rapper/producer Sean “Puffy” Combs) collaboration called DiddyTV. The DiddyTV channel features samples from P. Diddy’s new album and also a video of P. Diddy walking into a Burger King and ordering a Whopper®
A couple of the bigger video deals that have taken place thus far today was Google partnering with Sony and Warner to provide free music videos online and a YouTube/CBS partnership. Google-Sony is an interesting deal because Sony recently purchased video sharing website, Grouper.com for $65 million. CBS was signed to have their own channel on YouTube which brings this network up to par with previous YouTube channel owner, NBC.
In other video news:
Pixsy, a website that grabs photos, videos, and music videos from various sources announced that they are partnering with PureVideo starting this Wednesday. PureVideo was also created by the founders of StupidVideos.com, a viral video archive website.
