Facebook has now produced a new logo which appears as an icon in the address bar of their homepage and is now being seen on TheOnion.com, IMDb, and The Washington Post to share content on user profiles. This new which has an underlined F has replaced a picture of Mark Zuckerberg’s face with a blue luminosity effect staring at you.
Liz Gannes of GigaOm stated that this effect implies that “Now it is going out all over the web and putting its name in front of people who may or may not be familiar with the site and its new open-door membership policy. The company is showing it can be a dealmaker on its own without the help of a powerful parent.”
For this content-sharing initiative Facebook plans on partnering with websites:
- Barron’s Online
- Boston.com,
- Brightcove,
- CollegeHumor.com,
- eBaumsworld.com,
- edgeio,
- GameSpot.com,
- Geffen,
- IDG Entertainment,
- The Internet Movie Database (IMDb),
- Jumpcut.com,
- MarketWatch.com,
- Miniclip.com,
- NBCSports.com,
- the New York Times,
- People.com,
- Photobucket,
- PureVideo Networks,
- SI.com,
- TerraPass Inc.,
- The Onion,
- Time.com,
- TV.com,
- U.S. News & World Report,
- the Wall Street Journal Online,
- Washingtonpost.com,
- and Ziff Davis Media

“People share interesting content on the Web and on Facebook all the time. Now we’re making the sharing process more efficient by giving people a simple structure to do it in,“ stated founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg. “We’re partnering with some good companies to make it easier for people to share those websites’ content through Facebook.“
If you own a website, you can also encourage Facebook users to add your content. The link for this is: http://www.facebook.com/share_partners.php
