Yahoo! Gets Hungry… Literally

Yahoo! Food LogoYahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO) has today recently released a food network just in time for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. The new food network includes a recipe Buzz, featured recipes presented by Kraftfoods.com, a “Thanksgiving Made Easy” module presented by Martha Stewart, “Celebrity Chow” which currently lists Morgan Freeman’s favorite dishes, how-to videos, and even has connected Yahoo! Answers to this page. Currently the most watched videos all star Martha Stewart preparing a proper Thanksgiving dinner.

Because Yahoo! Food appears to be following a theme centralized around Thanksgiving, I would have to assume that as time goes by, Yahoo! Food would adapt to the various other holidays. For example, had Yahoo! Food been released within the last week or 2, the frontpage would contain Pumpkin Pie recipes and other ghoulish foods.

Who are the competitors? Most likely the Food Network website, the BBC Food website, Epicurious.com, etc. These are the most likely results when you search for the keyword, “food.” This was a rather strategic move considering that Thanksgiving promotes gluttony and all of us are starving for a good Thanksgiving meal (for those who celebrate the occasion).
