SellaBand Gets Funding To The Tune Of $5 Million

SellaBand is a Dutch music website that announced that they have raised $5 million in funding.  Prime Technology Ventures is the European venture capital fund that provided Sellaband their funding.  Sellaband allows users to buy shares in independent bands and then harvests these funds to help artists record music.  Sellaband will use the funding to expand their marketing and technology.

Sellaband opened a New York office last year and has helped funding 18 artists in 11 different countries since then.  Sellaband also recently signed a deal with Amazon.com UK and Heineken.  Heineken will sponsor Sellaband’s music events.

Slicethepie, another European music website raised $2 million in funding recently.
