Hook Mobile To Release New API

I had to the chance to sit down and talk to Niels Boegholm of Hook Mobile who showed me a preview of the new API they’ll be releasing this year.
Hook Mobile deals with the profilaration of content via multimedia messaging (MMS) because of how standard it is in most mobile devices. Now they’re bringing their ability to get content on mobile devices in the hands of developers.
There are no issues of dealing with the carrier as Hook Mobile has it all taken care of. Developers have to only worry about what they want to get on the phone’s of their users and not how. Neils was able to show me an example application that’s being run by Paramount on facebook called Voo-Zoo Mobile allowing users to send small clips to friends. Niels showed me a small clip of ZooLander on his phone. It’s cool. He had me sold as a developer and as a user.
As a developer it’s difficult to get on mobile devices as they’re a walled garden protected by the service providers and to get exclusively on one service and not another just doesn’t scale well when making a web service that’s available to all. To have the ability to put content on a mobile device without having to deal with the providers is great but it gets better in that Hook Mobile offers profit sharing as well. Snazzy.
