The CEO of Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG), Dr. Eric E. Schmidt mentioned yesterday that the intensity of rivalry between the search engine giant and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could dethrone him from his current Board position. Schmidt joined Apple’s Board on August 29, 2006. “It has not so far,” stated Schmidt, but he had to excuse himself from one or two meetings when Directors at Apple had meetings regarding the iPhone.
Google’s mobile operating system, Android will be spreading across devices and will be competing directly against Apple’s iPhone. Schmidt added that the Android operating system will be quite different from the iPhone, but was not specific on the details.
