Current and Former Apple Employees File A Class Action Lawsuit For Unfair Working Conditions

This past Monday, a lawsuit was filed at the U.S. District Court for Southern California by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) employees claiming that they did not receive a fair compensation for overtime pay and meals.  The claim also states that “Apple employees are routinely subjected to working conditions resembling indentured servitude [PCAuthority].”

One of the plaintiffs, David Walsh worked at Apple between 1995 and 2007.  He claimed that he was required to work 40 hours+ per week, missed meals, and spent many evenings, nights, and weekends on call without overtime pay. 

The lawsuit, lead by Walsh and several other Apple employees alleges that Apple misclassified them as management employees rather than hourly employees, thus preventing to pay overtime.  The lawsuit is also seeking Apple retail store employees to act as plaintiffs.

If Apple loses the court case, then they would have to revise their compensation requirements.
