With all of the excitement from yesterday’s launch of Google Chrome, it has just been reported that there is a good chance that the web browser will be integrated with the upcoming Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) mobile operating system.

“Probably a subsequent version of Android is going to pick up a lot of the Chrome stack,” stated Google co-founder Sergey Brin. “My guess is we’ll have ‘Chrome-like’ or something similar.”

Even though Android and Chrome were developed as independent projects, both teams worked closely in choosing WebKit. “We have not wanted to bind one’s hands to the other’s,” added Brin. WebKit is an open source web browser engine.

Pre-sales for the T-Mobile HTC Dream powered by Android is expected to start on September 17.
