Google Updates Terms Of Service For Chrome

Google Chrome has been in the limelight this whole week, including the end user license agreement. In Section 11 of the Google Chrome Terms of Service, it states that Google has the right to user-generated content that is “submitted, posted or displayed on or through” through the browser.

Google added this section because under copyright law, the search engine company needs a “license” to display and transmit any content. For example, if a user wants to look at CNN.com through Chrome, Google needs a license to allow you to look at it.

This is what the revised text now says in their EULA:

11. Content license from you
11.1
You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content
which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.

Google will apply this across the 40 languages that Chrome is available within the next few weeks. Mike Yang, Senior Product Counsel of Google made officially announced this on the Google Blog.
