Gordon Crovitz Joins Board of Directors For Blurb

Gordon Crovitz has joined the Blurb Board of Directors. Blurb is a company that focuses on allowing the masses publish their own books. The company launched as DEMO 2006.

Blurb’s software, BookSmart can turn blogs, recipes, emails, wikis, etc. into a professional looking book. The software has a drag and drop interface that takes your content and places it into the pages of a book. Then the user can design the book covers, backgrounds, fonts, colors, etc.

Gordon Crovitz, a former publisher of The Wall Street Journal and former EVP of Dow Jones has joined Blurb’s Board of Directors.

“2007 was truly a breakout year for Blurb with
nearly $10M in revenue and over 90,000 unique titles, momentum that has
helped us to become profitable in 2008,” stated Eileen Gittins, founder
and CEO of Blurb. “The opportunity to add a business and publishing
leader of Gordon’s caliber to our board is truly once in a lifetime. As
a driving force behind bringing print into the Digital Age, Gordon
understands the unique intersection of digital and print media, and
will be a huge contributor to Blurb’s continued success.”

Blurb also has Photobucket and Facebook applications.

Blurb was started in 2004 and is funded by Canaan Partners and Anthem Venture Partners. The company is based in San Francisco, Calif. and has offices around Europe.
