T-Mobile added more prepaid customers than postpaid customers last quarter. Prepaid customers are not tied down by any contracts. They are free to jump from carrier to carrier. They are also hesitant to use premium mobile services such as Internet.

The company added 670,000 subscribers last quarter. Only 44% of these subscribers signed a contract.
