Google Friend Connect Integrates With Twitter

Google Friend Connect is a way to log in to blogs or news websites using a Google, Yahoo!, AIM, or OpenID account.  Now Twitter users can log in to Google Friend Connect powered sites using their Twitter login ID.   Twitter is one of the first third party companies to sign up with Google Friend Connect.

Twitter will not be exclusively working with Google Friend Connect.  Twitter had announced earlier that they will be working with MySpaceID and Facebook Connect.  In order to setup Twitter with Google Friend Connect, a user must login with their Google, Yahoo!, OpenID, or AIM first.  After that a user can choose to connect their profile with Twitter.

This integration with Twitter is an example of how we want to continue improving Friend Connect, extending the open social web and bringing social features to more places on the web,” wrote Mussie Shore, Product Manager on the Google Blog.

Some websites that are already powered with Google Friend Connect include My Latest Piece, Qloud, GO2WEB2.0 Blog, BibleApps, and My First Earthquake.  Facebook and MySpace have already developed competitors of their own against Google Friend Connect.
