Amazon shares rose today after the company reported that it had its “best ever” holiday season. December 15 was its biggest shopping day with over 6.3 million items being ordered. That’s 72.9 items being sold per second.

This is good news for Amazon at a time when overall holiday online spending fell 1 percent from a year ago.

Amazon’s top selling brands included Apple, Samsung , and Acer.
