Recently MySpace was able to eliminate 90,000 sex offenders from their social network.  TechCrunch pointed out that many of them were turning to Facebook as an alternative.
Anthony Stancl is one of the latest examples of a pedophile romping around on Facebook.

Stancl posed as a girl on Facebook and tricked 31 male classmates into sending them naked pictures of themselves.  After receiving the pictures Stancl then blackmailed his classmates to engage into some form of sex acts for him.  All of these students attend New Berlin Eisenhower High School in New Berlin, Wisconsin.  New Berlin is in Waukesha County.

Stancl was charged yesterday with five counts of child enticement, second-degree sexual assault of a child, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, possession of child pornography, repeated sexual assault of the same child and making a bomb threat.  Stancl is planning on pleading not guilty according to his lawyer Craig Kuhary.

“It’s too early in the case for me to make a statement, other than the fact at some point we are going to go into events that had taken place earlier that might have had some impact on what he did here,” stated Kuhary.

Stancl started participating in the blackmail between spring 2007 and November.  Stancl pretended to be a girl named Kayla or Emily.  Once receiving the photos, Stancl would ask the 31 victims at the school to meet and perform sex acts on them.  If they didn’t, then Stancl would send the nude photos and movies to friends or post them on the Internet.  Police officers found about 300 nude images of males on Stancl’s computer.  Some of the victims were only 15 years old.  Stancl’s preliminary hearing will be on Feb. 26.  If Stancl gets charged, he could face a maximum penalty of 300 years in jail.
