Microsoft To Launch “My Phone” Application Store

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is planning to launch a new storefront called My Phone.  My Phone will sync applications between mobile devices running the Windows Mobile operating system and the Internet.   My Phone will allow smartphone users to back up contacts, appointments, photos, etc.  My Phone will have 200 MB of online storage for and will work with devices running on Windows Mobile 6.0 and above.

My Phone is “an online bazaar for distributing software to cellular phones that run Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system,” stated a source for the Wall Street Journal.  Microsoft will most likely report the new service on February 16 in Spain.

My Phone will not be the first catalog of applications that run on Windows Mobile.  For example, has a plethora of games and applications that are compatible with many of the smartphones running on Windows Mobile.  However this will be the first time that Microsoft will be launching one of their own.
