The back part of the phone has a sonal panel to make it powered by the Sun and the front of it is painted in blue gloss paint. This is the Samsung Electronics Blue Earth handset. Buying this phone helps you save 6.5 trees according to the press release. The phone is made out of PCM, recycled plastic made from water bottles. The phone has an “eco” mode and an “eco walk” application built-in. There is also a pedometer that tells you how much CO2 emission saved by walking instead of driving.

The design of the Blue Earth was made “symbolize a flat and well rounded shiny pebble”  and “to draw attention to preserving our fragile environment.”  The handset is also free from substances such as brominated flame retardants, Beryllium, and Phthalate.

The Samsung Blue Earth will be available in the U.K. around the second half of this year.
