Here is a clever idea for a business card. Instead of giving someone your business card with generic contact information, you are openly inviting someone to “Google me.” That way they can learn more about exactly what you do and learn more about your personality. Perhaps we’ll soon see some business cards that will ask someone to Facebook friend you or become a LinkedIn connection. The business card was designed by Ji Lee.
Check out the way that this thing climbs terrain. Watching this thing walk along the U.S. Army soldiers makes it feel like that you are watching a real animal walk alongside them. The Big Dog robot’s legs adjust to uphill and downhill situations.
The Big Dog was developed by Boston Dynamics. The Big Dog has a built in navigation system and some of the most advanced artificial intelligence features. One of the Army soldiers said in the video that it would be useful to carry items, allowing the human soldiers to move around quicker. Big Dog can run, walk slowly, lay down, and be loaded and unloaded with items. As soon as I saw Big Dog in action, it made me belive that living like The Jetsons isn’t too far away.
It is pretty incredible that a hardware hacker was somehow able to get an NES controller to work on a Nintendo DS. Anyone using this hacked device could use the Nintendo DS to play classic games like Super Mario Brothers 1 using the stitched-in NES controller.
On the forum, acidmods.com, it was revealed the the alias of the person that put this together is thecauseandeffect. He used to own over 600 NES cartridges, but sold them because he has every rom on the DS. But he learned that he preferred the original controller.
Nothing gets music and movie fans going more than when they see their favorite artists and actors win awards for their performances. This is why award ceremonies like the Grammys and the Academy Awards are such a hit. Thanks to Netflix, movie buffs can now set up a list of movies that they want to see next in a queue delivered to their door step. The Oscars.
Apparently the Oscars really got Netflix customers going because they added 2 million movies to their queue during the three hour program. Slumdog Millionaire was the top added movie out of all of them, but 56,000 different titles were also added. At Netflix’s low price of starting at $4.99 and their free trial, its hard to go wrong. You spend more on one cup of coffee than your whole monthly movie subscription after all.
Yokohama’s robotic crawler was designed to carry a human from a disaster area to safety. This would be especially useful for situations like an earthquake or tornado. This device has four wheel belts and can easily move through rubble and other obstacles. It can carry a person that weighs a max of about 250lbs. The crawler has infrared cameras that allow it to be used during harsh weather and at night time. And the crawler constantly measures the blood flow and other vital signs of the passenger.
This phone is supposedly worth $2.5 million because it is studded with 18 carat yellow gold and 160 diamonds. The home button is a 6.6 carat diamond. They call this iPhone 3G the “Kings Button.” It was put together by Austrian jeweler Peter Aloisson. Whoever has enough to spend that much a phone has enough money to buy out Pulse2.com for that same price. I recommend the latter, you’ll get more bang for your buck there.
LG is considering withdrawing from manufacturing plasma TVs. Costs from manufacturing the TVs are offsetting profits. Lee Gyu-hong, LG’s Justice, VP, and President made this announcement in an interview earlier this week. This move would be similar to Pioneer, who announced that they intend to cease plasma TV production immediately. Pioneer’s plasma TV plants are all shutting down by the end of April.
