A couple of years ago, Fenner Investments sued Microsoft and Nintendo over U.S. patent #6,297,751, “Low-voltage joystick port interface.”  The lawsuit was filed in a court in the state of Texas.  Judge Leonard Davis of the U.S. District Court in Tyler, Texas threw out the lawsuit alleging that both companies violated the lawsuit.

“We are very pleased with the court’s decision,” stated Nintendo of America’s legal counsel Rick Flamm. “Nintendo has a long history of developing innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others. We also vigorously defend patent lawsuits when we firmly believe that we have not infringed another party’s patent, despite the risks that this policy entails.”

The patent was awarded to Lucent Technologies in 2001, but Fenner Investments bought them out several years later.
