Celebrity Twitter user Demi Moore may have helped save a life using the short messaging service. Moore had found that early on Friday morning, a woman sent out a Twitter message saying that she was suicidal. The unidentified suicidal woman supposedly sent out a suicidal message saying “getting a knife,a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn’t waste time.”

Demi Moore retweeted that message and it turns out that people immediately responded and called the police department. The San Jose police department found the suicidal woman unharmed but took her into custody. The woman also had to go to the psychiatric ward for evaluation.

Moore did not know the woman, but said that this incident was a “prime example of the power of collective consciousness.”
