One thing I regret from college is not being financially-savvy about credit. I allowed myself to get into more debt than I should have been by having a credit card with 19% APR. I didn’t even know what APR was going into college. I was also opening up Credit Cards left and right without regard to how it would affect my credit report.

StudentCreditCards.com compares credit cards intended for students and student loans. On StudentCreditCards.com, there is a blog that discusses how to maintain positive credit ratings. By finding ways to fully pay off bills rather than just the interest, students are able to increase Fair Isaac score (FICO) scores which ranges between 200 and 900. FICO is an average of a rating by 3 national credit bureaus.

Every month StudentCreditCards.com give a list of the top 3 recommended credit cards. For the month of April, StudentCreditCards.com recommended the Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Credit Card for students with a 0% APR on purchases and balances for 6 months. ThankYou points are also awarded by using the mtvU card which gives rewards such as VIP Passes to mtvU Spring Break and tickets to MTV Music Awards. The second credit card that StudentCreditCards recommended this month is a Discover Open Road Card which gives 5% cash back bonus on the first $100 in gas purchase each month automatically and a 0% APR for 6 months. And lastly was the Orchard Bank Classic MasterCards credit card which sends you e-mail and text messages to remind you of payment dates and has a 0% APR for 6 months no matter how Good, Fair, or Bad your credit is.
