Perez Hilton asked a question during the Miss USA pageant in relation to gay marriage. “I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman,” stated Miss California Carrie Prejean during the competition. This was after she said that it was good that America was open to choice. Perez Hilton was furious by this answer so he resorted to calling her all sorts of profanities on his blog.

Prejean on the other hand rigorously defended her opinion. “I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I stated an opinion that was true to myself, and that’s all I can do,” said Prejean in an interview with Billy Bush, host of Miss USA.

“It did cost me my crown,” Prejean added. “It is a very touchy subject and [Hilton] is a homosexual, and I see where he was coming from and I see the audience would’ve wanted me to be more politically correct. But I was raised in a way that you can never compromise your beliefs and your opinions for anything.”

Hilton initially wrote the insult and then apologized. But then he took back the apology and continued to bash on Prejean.

Funny or Die decided to weigh in on the situation by publishing a parody video of the whole situation called A Gaythering Storm. The video stars Sarah Chalke, Jason Lewis, Lynne Stewart, Alicia Silverstone, Lance Bass, Liz Feldman, Sophia Bush, Drew Droege, Mike Hitchcock, Daniele Gathier, Jay Lay, Erin Foley, George Takei, and Jane Lynch.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has joined the Fortune 100 list for the first time since 1994. Not only did they join the top 100, but it was at the respectable rank of #71. Last year the company was ranked 103 so they had jumped 32 spots.

The Fortune 500 magazine ranks the U.S. based corporations based on highest revenues adjusted after taxes. In 1994, Apple made it to the Fortune 100 when they were building computers that had PowerPC processors and was shipping out Mac OS System 7. Steve Jobs was no longer with the company and would join 5 years later.

Today the company announced their 2nd quarter fiscal quarter results and they were astonishing. Apple recorded $8.16 billion in revenue for the quarter ending March 28. This is up from $7.5 billion the year before. The company sold 2.22 million Mac computers, 11 million iPods, and 3.79 million iPhones.

“We are extremely pleased to report the best non-holiday quarter revenue and earnings in our history,” stated Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer.

One of the lawyers for The Pirate Bay team has already filed for an appeal to a decision that was made this past Friday.  The decision was that the team would be expected to sentence one year in prison and pay a fine that is worth $3.6 million in damages.  Lawyers for the other three defendants in the case are also expected to appeal.

The four members of The Pirate Bay team are Carl Lundström, Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, and Peter Sunde.  Stefan Jevinger, one of Carl’s lawyers stated that the appeal was made to make a statement about how wrong the sentence was.

According to the written appeal, the lawyers are pointing out that the decision had not shown that Lundström knew about the main crime which was being an accessory to copyright law.  You cannot be sentenced to a crime you don’t know about states the appeal.

The appeal is expected to be heard by the court of appeals sometime in the first half of next year.  “This is a bit more complicated than your ordinary bank robbery, and therefore it will take time,” stated Wag’s lawyer Ola Salomonsson.

Until everything is sorted out, The Pirate Bay website will remain online.  For full Pulse 2.0 coverage on The Pirate Bay, check out http://pulse2.com/category/the-pirate-bay/.

Douglas Gentile, an assistant professor of psychology at Iowa State University has conducted a study in which the conclusion is that one out of every ten gamers show “pathological patterns of video game addiction.” This is a statistic that I think is believable.

Gentile found that through a national Harris Poll survey filled out by 1,178 eight to eighteen year olds, 8.5% of those showed signs of pathological use. “What we mean by pathological use is that something someone is doing – in this case, playing video games – is damaging to their functioning,” stated Gentile. “It’s not simply doing it a lot. It has to harm functioning in multiple ways.”

Gentile’s paper “Pathological Video Game Use among Youth 8 to 18: A National Study” will appear in the May edition of Psychological Science. Gamers that were described as pathological if they had at least six out of eleven of the symptoms described by addiction. The symptoms are comparable to those who are described as pathological gamblers.
