Apple Inc. has rejected another application from iTunes. This time it has to do with religious parody. The application is called “Me So Holy” and the idea is to take a picture of yourself and scale it to replace the image of Jesus’ face with yours. Apple stated that the application is objectionable.
The last application made by the makers of Me So Holy is called The Animalizer. It has the same concept but you replace your face with an animals. The developers behind both applications are known as Lil’ Shark. Lil’ Shark posted the letter that they received from Apple regarding their rejection:
“Me So Holy” contains objectionable content and is in violation of Section 3.3.12 from the iPhone SDK Agreement which states:
“Applications must not contain any obscene, pornographic, offensive or defamatory content or materials of any kind (text, graphics, images, photographs, etc.), or other content or materials that in Apple’s reasonable [judgment] may be found objectionable by iPhone or iPod touch users.”
Earlier this month an application called PeekABabe was rejected due to sexual content, but it was added to iTunes with a 12+ rating. The developer behind PeekABabe said that it took them almost a month to get accepted. He suggested that Apple have some sort of preapproval process so that developers don’t spend too much time on an idea that ends up getting rejected in the process.
