Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is using their brain power to work on a new algorithm. The algorithm doesn’t focus on the best ways to index the web this time. They are working on an algorithm that is able to figure out what types of perks and pay that employees need to stay with the company and who is predicted to leave.
Google said that they are able to figure out which of their 20,000 employees will most likely leave. The algorithm crunches data from employee reviews, promotion dollars involved, and previous pay histories.
Laszlo Bock, the VP of People Operations at the search engine company said that the algorithm helps “get inside people’s heads even before they know they might leave [WSJ].”
Omid Kordestani, Senior Advisor of the Office of the CEO and Founders at Google recently received $5.12 million when he exchanged 36,000 stock options at a price of $448.23. Omid led the first group of employees that sold contextual ads for Google [BI].

In less than a few days after Intel was fined for having unfair prices and for giving rebates to PC makers by the European Union, Nvidia decided to give their opinion on the chip maker company. The European Union decided to investigate Intel after AMD filed a report against them.
Jen-Hsun Huang, the CEO of Nvidia said that Intel chip pricing was unfair but said that they are not planning to file an antitrust action lawsuit against Intel for now. Intel sells Atom chips for $45 for a single unit, but sells three-chip sets for $25. The extremely discounted price for bulk units lures customers away from AMD. “That seems pretty unfair,” stated Huang. “We ought to be able to compete and serve that market.”
“We compete fairly. We do not force bundles on any computer makers and customers can purchase Atom individually or as part of the bundle,” responded Intel spokesman Bill Calder. “If you want to purchase the chip set, obviously there is better pricing.”
Samsung and LG Electronics are two companies that are very established in the touchscreen mobile market. As a major milestone, each company has sold over 20 million handsets. On a monthly basis, that amounts to about 1.6 million handsets sold per month since both companies started about two years ago.

Below is a statement from a Yahoo! spokesperson:
We are reprioritizing some products to help us better deliver the best possible experiences to consumers on mobile. To streamline our services, we will not develop Yahoo! Mobile for smartphones to focus our efforts on mobilizing Yahoo!, improving Yahoo! Mobile for web and Yahoo! Mobile for iPhone as well as developing new and engaging experiences for consumers, partners and advertisers.
We currently have mobile products that reach hundreds of different devices (including Blackberry), and we continue to expand that comprehensive list.
There is a new version of Yahoo! Mobile for smartphones being developed at http://new.m.yahoo.com. But in terms of giving developers a beta program for the product, this will not be available starting May 20.
