Wintek Corporation is the company that was reported to be building touch panels for Apple last March.  The Apple product that Wintek was making touch panels for was unknown although there was speculation over a netbook.

The most recent rumor over the touch panel order that was made a couple months ago is that Apple is now working on an “e-book form factor netbook product” according to SlashGear.  The touchscreen device is expected to have VoIP, Internet access, and WiFi integration.

The product is unlikely to appear on the market until 2010 because of issues in dealing with a stable version of a mobile operating system.

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are two of the most active celebrities using Twitter.  Recently it was reported that several Hollywood executives are interested in creating a show that leverages Twitter’s service.  Since that announcement was made, Twitter denied their direct involvement with the creation of a Twitter TV show.

However when the Examiner wrote the following news article, Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore reported that they may quit using Twitter immediately.  The article reported that Hollywood execs will be using Twitter to help find celebrites using the pictures that they send out in a competition format.

Below are the responses that both celebrities tweeted out in reaction to the article:

Ashton: “Wow I hope this isn’t true. I really don’t like being sold out. May have to take a twitter hiatus. http://bit.ly/155I15″

Demi: “hope this isn’t true-if it is our Twitter time may come to a quick and sad end!”

Given Twitter’s denial in their involvement with the situation, I have reason to believe that a Twitter TV show will never be created.  The article is basically sensationalizing a rumor.

Apple has something to look forward to in Europe.  The Société des auteurs, compositeurs et éditeurs de musique (SACEM) has agreed to drop the territorial restrictions that they have over collecting royalties for about 128,000 artists.

Apple currently dominates over half of the digital music sales through the iTunes services.  Outside of their country, Apple does not allow Europeans to purchase music.  Because of the restrictions that the European Commission had in the past, they have limited what consumers could buy on the Internet.

With these license royalty restrictions being dropped, it is very likely that Apple’s market share in Europe will grow.

Microsoft Preparing For Bing Launch With $100 Million Ad Campaign

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is preparing for the launch of a new search engine service called Bing. Microsoft believes that they need to overhaul the brand of their search engine. As you are all aware, Live.com just doesn’t seem as catchy as Google.com.

In order to push the Bing brand name, Microsoft has even budgeted around $100 million for their next search engine. The ad agency that was pulled in for help is called JWT. JWT even had to hire additional creative staff for this project given the scope of how large it is.

It is not known how Microsoft’s new search engine will differentiate from Google, but some people are saying that the multimedia search results look quite different from the standard view.

Microsoft has been having some luck with the I’m A PC and Laptop Hunter campaigns because the software giant has been pointing out how expensive Apple computers are. And for the most part, they are correct. In today’s economic conditions, many people prefer to pick up cheaper PCs over their $1,000 Mac competitors.

Apple removed two applications from the iTunes App Store that related to fake watches in order to avoid a lawsuit from watch company Cartier.  Cartier claimed that Apple was infringing on their trademark by selling those applications.

Apple removed the applications one day after Cartier filed the lawsuit against Apple.  Both of the applications sold a picture of a clock that resembled a Cartier watch.  One was a free application called Fake Watch and the other was a paid version called the Fake Watch Gold Edition.

Microsoft Corporations stated that they are planning on shutting down the beta version of Windows 7 starting on July 1.  There was an announcement from before that was circulating a message that the beta would not be available on June 1.

“The date for when bi-hourly shutdowns will begin for the Windows 7 Beta was incorrect,” stated Microsoft Windows blogger Brandon LeBlanc. “We apologize for the confusion and inconvenience this may have caused.”

On July 1, those who are still running Windows 7 beta will see their computers automatically shut down and reboot every couple of hours.  That will serve as a reminder that the new operating system will no longer be available.

LeBlanc has even encouraged users to try out Windows 7 Release Candidate.  That is a more developed version of the operating system.  Windows 7 RC will even be available until June 1, 2010 and then users will be asked to buy a full and paid version.

The house that Cameron lived in during the movie is now being sold for a hefty price of $2.3 million on HomeFinder.com.

The house was designed by architects A. James Speyer and David Haid.  One of the notable features of the house is the glass garage built in to the backyard. This glass garage had a very notable role towards the end of the movie.

HomeFinder.com has 2.7 million properties listed across the nation and is owned by Classified Ventures LLC.  Classified Ventures is owned by Belo Corp., Gannett Co. Inc., The McClatchy Company, the Tribune Company, and The Washington Post Company.

4chan is a forum where hackers make designated online attacks on celebrities and popular services.  Recently 4chan users were notified about Salma Hayek’s MobileMe Account login information.  4chan users also built a Twitter bot that gathered thousands of followers in an attempt to beat Ashton Kutcher and CNN to the first million followers.  This time 4chan users decided to attack YouTube.

Anyone that searched for Hannah Montana or Jonas Brothers may have noticed some inappropriate content show up.  4chan planned this attack on YouTube as a protest against the removal of audio from copyrighted music videos.  Some of the links connected to those videos were linked to websites that asked visitors to download malware too.

Google responded quickly in removing the offensive videos but warned that there could be a few videos left.  About 20 hours of video are added to YouTube per minute so it is difficult to keep tabs on every single video being uploaded.
