LG Posts Record 2Q Profit

LG is the third largest maker of LCD TVs. The company reported a record quarter thanks to strong LCD TV sales. Net income in the second rose 62 percent to $917 million from a year earlier. LG is also the world’s third largest maker of cell phones.

The company plans to overtake its rivals this year to become the second biggest LCD TV maker by offering WiFi enabled and energy saving models.

Profits from LGs other business sectors including mobile handsets and air conditioners are also up.
