Mobile Radio Startup FlyCast Raises $2.1 Million

FlyCast has raised $2.1 million according to an SEC filing. The company has not said where the funding came from or what it will be used for.

FlyCast streams free radio to mobile phones. It offers over 1,500 digital radio stations. Flycast can stream radio to BlackBerry Bold, Storm, Curve, iPhone 2G, 3G, 3Gs, iPod Touch and Android. FlyCast streams can also be listened to on a desktop.

FlyCast was founded in 2006 as BroadClip. The company changed its name in January 2008.

FlyCast monetizes its broadcasts through ads. DoubleClick is the company’s ad-serving solution provider. The company’s ad technology can target listeners by age, gender, location, music interests, and device type. Advertisers can choose between a display ad or an audio ad inserted into the steam.

Nothing has been said about FlyCast’s revenue, profitability or growth.
