Recently an IT manager, a CIO, and two other works were fired for falsifying bids and for creating shells companies within the IT department of the Prince William, VA government. This led to the embezzlement of $8 million in a scheme that involved forgery and money laundering.
The government of Prince William is currently looking for a new CIO. The following people have been affected as a result of the scandal:
- Former OIT systems division chief Maneesh Gupta
- two unnamed workers
- Former CIO Massoud Nourbaksh (not charged, but resigned anyway)
Now the Prince William government is tightening controls set in place for workflow. There are also tighter controls on finance and project governance.
