ChessCube Raises $1.25 Million For Attracting Bobby Fischer Wannabes

ChessCube is an international chess website.  The company has just raised a $1.25 million round of funding.  One of the investors includes South African VC firm InVenFin.  The website started two years ago and has raised a total of $1.8 million.

ChessCube allows players to compete online for free.  In total the website has about 650,000 registered users.  ChessCube competes against other online chess websites such as ChessBase, PlayChess, and Chess Club.

ChessCube CEO Mark Levitt said that his company is planning on launching several premium services later this year.  ChessCube currently features free chatting and instructional videos.
