High Gear Media is a network of automotive websites that receive a combined visitor count of 1 million visits per month.  TheCarConnection.com is the company’s highest visited website in the network.

Recently the company announced that they have acquired MotorAuthority.com, another network of content websites about cars.  MotorAuthority focuses more on luxurious cars.

The acquisition of MotorAuthority brought High Gear Media’s total count of content website to 39.  MotorAuthority was started in 2006 by Siddharth Raja.  Internally, High Gear Media reported about 2 million unique visitors.

High Gear raised about $12 million in total funding from DAG Ventures, Accel Partners, and Greylock Partners.  The last round of funding was $5.5 million and took place this past June.
