ReTweet.com is a service based on retweets, the repeating of status messages on Twitter of people that you follow.  ReTweet has about $1.4 million in funding no funding (e-mail from ReTweet) and their biggest competitor Tweetmeme has about €650,000 ($926,000) in funding.

Both companies are really picking up steam in the ReTweeting business and TweetMeme does not like it.  TweetMeme has threatened Mesiab Labs, the company behind ReTweet.com for copying their website design and copying their retweet button code.

The only problem with these two companies is that Twitter themselves are interested in getting into retweets too.  If Twitter starts counting how many times status updates have been repeated and even creates a widget that showcases the count, these two companies will be out of luck.

Update: ReTweet is valuated at about $4 million by Leapfish.

BlackBerry company Research In Motion is rumored to have full Flash and Silverlight support.  Well that is just great, I just bought the iPhone.  Had I known this rumor before, I would have saved my money.  Flash and Silverlight support may not happen until a while from now.  This probably won’t happen until a summer from now.

NYC Man Claims Verizon Technician Punched Him In The Face

A man in New York City needed phone repair from Verizon so the company sent over a technician. But instead of fixing his phone, the Verizon technician ended up punching the customer in the face.  The Verizon technician may have taken a page out of the Radio Shack managerial guidebook.

The technician involved is named Robert Benjamin and the reason why he attacked Aubrey Isakson, 37, is because he was asked to show his ID.  Isakson claimed that Benjamin slapped him in the face with his ID back in December 2008.

“The guy essentially snapped. He cold-cocked me, hit me two or three solid shots to the head while my hands were down,” said Isakson, a limo driver.

But things got uglier, Isakson said, when Benjamin squeezed him around the neck and pressed him up against the wall.

“He’s prepared to kill me,” Isakson said. “That’s all I could think of.”

Isakson said he broke free and ran down the stairs — fracturing his ankle along the way — to get help in his building’s lobby.

Fortunately Verizon did end up fixing the problem. Verizon even said that they were able to fix the problem and did not even need to send the technician to Isakson’s house. That may have been useful information to have before allowing a technician into Isakson’s place.

Earlier this week Microsoft Corporation asked for an appeal to an injunction for selling Microsoft Word.  Last week a judge issued an injunction on Microsoft for them to stop selling Word software with custom XML functions.  A jury ruled that a patent owned by Canadian software company i4i is being violated by Microsoft.

Microsoft will be forced to pay over $240 million in damages to i4i in the process.  Now that i4i has won a case, a couple of other companies want to get in on the patent action.

Allvoice claims that a speech recognition system used in Windows is violating one of their patents.  And EMG claims that Microsoft is violating a patent they own that revolves around viewing web content on mobile devices.

i4i, EMG, and Allvoice filed the lawsuits in a court in Eastern Texas.  The reason why the cases are filed in this location is because The New York Times labeled that specific court as the “patent lawsuit capital of the nation, where plaintiffs are more likely to get a favorable judgment.”
