Joshua Schachter sold Delicious to Yahoo! then quit to join Google.  During the election, Joshua Schachter created a GreaseMonkey script to highlight news stories in blue or red to indicate the bias of different stories on Memeorandum.com.  Schachter decided to take another entrepreneurial route to launch a service called Tiny Thread.

Tiny Thread takes tweets and threads them together to form conversations.  The way it works is that there are threads on the website that you can interact with.  To contribute to the threads, you are required to login using a Twitter account and authorize Tiny Thread to access your account.

The threads go one level deep.  Schachter did this project on his own time rather than the 20% creative time allowed as a Google employee.

Its been about two years since Microsoft Corporation bought out aQuantive for $6 billion.  And now the aQuantive co-founder Scott Lipsky is on the verge of launching a new company.  Lipsky’s new company is called PhotoRocket.

“While still in stealth mode, I can tell you this,” Lipsky wrote in an email. “PhotoRocket is a new concept in the digital photography space that will turn photo sharing sideways and that will solve many of the most common problems and most painful  aspects of sharing.”

This is the second photography-related company Lipsky has become involved in.  Around 2003, Lipsky co-founded a company called GalleryPlayer.  GalleryPlayer developed software that enhanced the way that high resolution images were displayed on flat panel TVs.

PhotoRocket may be a competitor of Photobucket and Flickr.  Before Lipsky launched Avenue A (previous name of aQuantive), he was the CTO of Baners & Noble.  After B&N, Lipsky became a VP of Business Expansion at Amazon.com.

On August 3, Eric Schmidt stepped down from the Apple Inc. Board of Directors due to conflicts of interest. This Tuesday Apple’s Board of Directors will be meeting to discuss some of the possible replacements of Schmidt.  Schmidt had been an Apple Board member for about 3 years.

Some of the other board members include Intuit Chairman Bill Campbell, Avon Products CEO Andrea Jung, former Vice President of the United States Al Gore, Chrysler finance chief Jerome York, J. Crew CEO Millard Drexler, and Genentech Chairman Arthur Levinson.

It would not surprise me if Apple appoints someone highly involved in the Internet application or cloud computing space considering that Schmidt’s company is one of the best in that sector.
