Atheros Communications is a semiconductor company that designs systems solutions and networking products.  Now they have made their company bigger by acquiring Intellon for $244 million.  Intellon designs home networking technologies. The acquisition will take place in the form of cash and stock.

Craig Barratt said that the acquisition of Intellon will “enable dynamic meshing of wireless and wired bandwidth, providing robust transmission of data, voice, and multi-media content on the growing number of networked devices in the home.” The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year as long as Intellon shareholders agree to the transaction.
