Lakeland, Florida, a city with one of the coolest driveways, has something to be embarrassed about today. During a drug raid, the Lakeland police decided to play the Wii for 9 hours at the dealer’s house.

A video of the cops playing the Nintendo Wii was taken by a surveillance camera that was not noticed during the raid. The policemen were addicted to the Bowling game on Wii Sports. About 16 policemen were on the scene when the incident took place.

After playing that long, the police actually started getting to be really good. Work hard, play hard.

Cellular South had once complained to the FCC that exclusive handset deals by AT&T and Verizon makes it difficult for the smaller telecomm companies to effectively compete. For example, Sprint has the Palm Pre exclusively and AT&T has the iPhone exclusively.

Cellular South will now be getting an Android-powered device known as the HTC Hero. No word yet on when the HTC Hero will be available on the network, but preorders will start on October 5. Cellular South said that they plan to sell more Android-powered devices in the near future too.

The HTC Hero has a 3.2″ HVGA touchscreen, WiFi, GPS, 5 megapixel camera with video capabilities, and an accelerometer.

Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) had it made in the 1980′s. He had his own TV shows for kids that included Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and Big Top Pee-wee. Pee-wee’s Playhouse even won Emmy Awards. But in 1991 Reubens was arrested for masturbating publicly in an adult theater.

After that incident, Pee-Wee Herman lost his TV shows and toy deals. Reubens himself kept himself out of the spotlight since. But he has risen again into the spotlight by joining Twitter as twitter.com/peeweeherman. So far Reubens has over 37,000 followers and is following 4 people including Nicole Richie and LeVar Burton, the man behind Reading Rainbow.

Pee-Wee Herman’s first tweet was “I’m back! Follow Pee-wee! Someone who RT’s this gets a phone call from me tonight! #peewee.” Perhaps he misses the limelight a bit.

Earlier this week it was rumored that Nintendo was slashing the price of the Wii. It turns out the rumor is true. Over the last 3 years the console was selling for $249.99 and now it will be selling for $199.99. The $199.99 price includes a controller, Wii Sports game, a Nunchuk controller, and wireless sensor bar.

“Since the launch of Wii our goal has been to expand the gaming population and get more consumers into this industry that we love. While we have sold more Wiis (21 million-plus in the U.S.; and more than 50 million worldwide) than any home console after 34 months — and over 100 million DS (systems) — we think there is still significant opportunity to get more consumers into gaming. Just here in the U.S. we think that opportunity is minimally 50 million consumers in U.S., by continuing to offer more and more value,” stated Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime in an interview with USATODAY.com.

For those of you that spent $250 recently on the console, some retailers are willing to accommodate the difference.

Research In Motion Limited (USA) (NASDAQ:RIMM) had a positive summer. The company shipped about 8.3 million smartphones between June and August. Last summer the company shipped 7.8 million during the same period.

Of the 8.3 million smartphones that were shipped, 3.8 million were new accounts. Another reason why the company shipped a large number of smartphones is because Verizon even had 2-for-1 sales. Despite the increase in smartphone shipments, the net income fell. Net income for the summer was $475.6 million while last year they made $495.5 million. Revenues were up though.
