Certify.com is a company that focuses on expense management which has just raised $1.9 million from angel investors. The angel investors include Esther Dyson and former TD BankNorth CEO William Ryan. Certify.com sells portable scanners for $139 that will automatically upload receipts to your Certify Wallet e-mail address. The company also has an iPhone application that gets added to your Certify Wallet once you e-mail the picture to data@certify.com.

For individuals, having a Certify Wallet costs $5 per month. Corporate plans have a variety of options. The corporate expense manager has a dashboard in order to track the analytics around the receipts. These services are especially useful for those who spend a great deal of time traveling around for company purposes. I would not be surprised if major consulting firms pick up on using this service soon.

zboost
zBoost is a company that prides itself in making mobile phone service work better. For those of you that are sick of losing service in the hills or in places covered by trees, the zBoost YX230 signal booster is a good bet. zBoost has even chopped the price from $299 to $179. The company promises that your dropped calls count will be reduced. The reason for the price drop is because of cheaper manufacturing processes being used. The cellphone reception booster does not require you to connect your phone to it either. The zBoost device works on a long range of TX and RX frequencies. An external magnetic mount will need to be added to the vehicle and you will also need to keep a signal amplifier connected via an adapter connected to the cigarette lighter.

AT&T will soon be launching a new product called a 3G MicroCell. This product is intended for those who are not too thrilled about the connection strength of their phone and data service at home or at work. The 3G MicroCell will use the strong connection from the land-line and disperse around the house or office to make your mobile phone connection stronger. And your mobile phone provider will actually charge you a monthly fee for it. BoyGeniusReport has heard a rumor that AT&T itself will charge $20/month for the service. This could be useful for those that live in the perimeters of major cities with shoddy connections. Details are scarce about when the product will be available, but there is a website available for the upcoming AT&T service: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/why/3gmicrocell/

Dopplr is a social travel company that was just reportedly acquired by Nokia. Although the price was not disclosed, the rumored price is about $15-$22 million. This is Nokia’s third acquisition in the last two months. Earlier this month Nokia bought out Plum and last month they bought out cellity.

Dopplr is based in London and they focus on getting consumers to reveal where they plan to travel in the future. This makes it so that they can set up meetings at different locations. Altogether Dopplr.com raised about $1.8 million. The founder and CEO of Dopplr Marko Ahtisaari was previously Director of Design Strategy at Nokia. Many other employees at Dopplr also previously worked at Nokia.

Once we have confirmation, this post will be updated.

Micro-blogging company Twitter.com is rumored to be closing a deal worth $100 million in venture funding. The rumor is according to a Wall Street Journal source. The investors involved are T. Rowe Price, Insight Venture Partners, Spark Capital, and Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). This is double the rumor that a TechCrunch source predicted earlier this month.

Spark Capital and IVP are previous investors in Twitter. In Twitter’s last round of funding, their valuation was $255 million. At an additional $100 million round of funding, the company is expected to be valuated beyond $1 billion. Despite the valuation Twitter has, the company does not have any substantial revenue model. But as we have learned from YouTube’s acquisition, that really doesn’t matter. YouTube was burning through VC funding before Google bought them out.

How many users does Twitter have? The company expects to have 25 million users by the end of this year. Twitter rival Facebook.com has about 300 million users. At one point Facebook made an offer to buy out Twitter for $500 million, $100 million in cash and $400 million in stock options. Rather than buying out Twitter, Facebook bought out FriendFeed.

The zombie kid isn’t the only one that likes turtles. Microsoft does too. At least that is what the Project Pink phone prototypes indicate. Above are the first screenshots of the devices, called the Turtle and the Pure.

The Turtle and the Pure phones will be made by Sharp. Sharp was the company behind the Sidekick hardware, made by Danger. Danger is a telecommunications company that Microsoft bought a couple of years ago for $500 million. Rumor also has it that the Turtle and the Pure will have their own app store and will complement the Zune.
