Miley Cyrus’ Quitting Twitter Rap Video Hits 3 Million Views In 3 Days [Video]

Miley Cyrus is a celebrity that currently has the Midas touch. Every tweet, video, and song that she puts together becomes media gold. Last week I reported that Cyrus quit Twitter because her rumored boyfriend recommended it. However Cyrus made a rap video embedded above that reports the real reason why she quit. That reason is because of tabloids. The tabloids take her tweets and sometimes make reports on them that are out of context. This reasons does seem like a logical, but it is a blow to her fans nonetheless that follow her religiously.

The rap video above hit 3 million views in about 3 days. If Cyrus did not like the attention, then why would she put up a video which she knew would put her back in the spotlight? “I want my private life private,” raps Cyrus. “I’m living for me.” Of course Cyrus wants the attention, but only at a moderate level.

Miley Cyrus does make a good rapper for a Caucasian tween girl. But I still think Taylor Swift’s performance with T-Pain was more upbeat and fun. Beyonce has the greatest video of all time though.

2008-07-25-Facebook-Poke

Shannon Jackson of Hendersonville, TN was arrested for poking another woman (Dana M. Hannah) on Facebook. The poke apparently violated a restraining order the other woman had against Jackson.

Hannah printed a screenshot of the poke notification and called the police. The screen-shot was enough proof to get Jackson arrested. Jackson’s lawyer is trying to get confirmation from Facebook that the poke was in fact from her account. The possibility that someone broke into her account has not been ruled out by her lawyer.

The charge against Jackson is a Class A misdemeanor. She could be punished with up to one year in jail.

Brian Spaley and Andy Dunn are the two men behind Bonobos Inc. Bonobos is an online start-up that sells men’s trousers and shirts. Their business model has been proven by Amazon.com’s acquisition of Zappos as part of an $885 million deal.

The company was named after the endangered ape. And the reason why Spaly started the project was because he had a hard time finding a part of pants that fit his build. Designer pants generally tend to be too tight and are usually expensive. Back when Bonobos first started, Spaly used his girlfriend’s sewing machine on the Stanford campus to customize his pants that he bought in the store.

Bonobos even allows refunds and subsidizes the mailing cost of the returns too. The reason why Bonobos sells only men’s clothing is because in many cases, women prefer to shop at retail stores and men do not as much. I agree with them about that one.

Bonobos is based in New York and has about 18 employees. Many of them have equity in the company. To get feedback on the designs, the company relies heavily on Facebook and Twitter. The company made $1.6 million in revenues last year.

If you refer a friend to Bonobos, the company will even pay you $50. Not a bad deal for their existing customers.

Many people believe that Facebook applications are losing appeal, but games made by Zynga are a major exception. Zynga has already banked on games such as Texas Hold’Em, Mafia Wars, and FarmVille. Now the social gaming company has another hit on their hands called Café World. Café World hit 10 million users in just one week.

How did Zynga do it? Cross-promotion. They linked Café World through FarmVille, a game that already has 56 million users according to AppData. Zynga has been making money by selling virtual goods in their games. Zynga will be making about $200 million in revenues this year alone according to Eric Eldon of Inside Social Games.

While Zynga is making a lot of revenues, one of the ways that they are making games is by taking ideas from others. FarmVille is considered to be a replica of FarmTown and Cafe World appears to be similar to Playfish’s Restaurant City.

Zynga is currently in a legal battle against another social gaming company called Playdom over company secrets. Four former Zynga employees are being accused for giving secrets to Playdom.

For an experiment that simulates miniature black holes, I think that the biggest concern in our minds would be that it had better not fall in the wrong hands.

An unnamed scientist working for the Large Hadron Collider project in Switzerland was arrested for being connected to Al-Qaeda. The arrest was made by French police at the town of Vienne earlier this week. The arrested man worked at the Hadron Collider since 2003. Supposedly the arrested man had even made suggestions on French targets.

After the arrest was made, the European Nuclear Physics Organization (CERN) stated “none of [their] research has potential for military application,” and added that the arrested suspect “had no contact with anything that could have been used for terrorism.”

Twitter Founders Discussing Video-Tweeting Possibilities

The co-founders of Twitter are currently discussing ways to integrate video tweets in their service. This would enable people with video capable mobile phones to upload clips to their profiles. However this would consume a large amount of bandwidth which Twitter is struggling to deal with already.

There are are a couple of third party video websites that have this type of feature already such as Twideo and Tweetube. But these two video websites have not gained as much traction as the Twitter photo-sharing third party website TwitPic.
