Apple may have decided to reject Google Voice, but Verizon Wireless plans to embrace the application. Google and Verizon have an Android partnership and the results of this deal will appear in the next few weeks. The first two Android powered phones will be available on Verizon later this year.
“In Verizon, somehow, the leadership has decided to embrace a very different philosophy, which works very, very well with the Internet,” added Google CEO Eric Schmidt on the conference call. Verizon and Google started their partnership discussion about 18 months ago. Verizon was the third telecommunications company to launch a phone on the Android operating system. T-Mobile and Sprint were the first two companies. Verizon is the largest wireless carrier based on the number of subscribers.

AT&T has changed their mind about disallowing iPhone VoIP applications. Now VoIP applications will be able to run on AT&T’s 3G network. This includes Vonage and Skype. Before Skype and Vonage were only allowed to operate on WiFi hotspots. This limits where you can use the applications.
One of the reasons why AT&T may have decided to let down their guard is because the FCC is investigating why Google Voice has been rejected multiple times. Will this make it more likely for Google Voice to be approved? Nope.
Apple did not reject Google Voice for VoIP reasons, but because it “appears to alter the iPhone’s distinctive user experience by replacing the iPhone’s core mobile telephone functionality and Apple user interface with its own user interface for telephone calls, text messaging and voicemail.”
Will AT&T end up paying less? Perhaps the telecommunications company will require customers to have minimum contracts to make sure that they don’t lose too much money from allowing VoIP services.

Sesame Street does a very good job of staying current. I remember as I was growing up, Sesame Street attempted to find ways to keep the audience appealed even as they were growing. When I was kid I remember just caring about learning how to count with The Count and how to control greed with Cookie Monster. As I grew up and became more into sports, I noticed that David Robinson was in an episode of Sesame Street and taught Big Bird how to tie his shoe.
Now Sesame Street is taking a page out of Apple’s book by using an iPod-inspired video to encourage people to dance. Apple takes their marketing very seriously so I would not be surprised if this video clip had to clear the company’s legal department.
Jimmy Kimmel made a Sesame Street spoof where Ernie and Cookie Monster explained the Bernie Madoff scheme back in March and it went viral on YouTube, reaching nearly one million views.
Let’s say that you are accelerating way too fast towards a red light and you’re foot is still on the gas, this new Mercedes prototype sends the driver two warning signals to slow down and stop. If the driver is still distracted after the two warnings, the seat belts tighten and the car automatically stops. This is a project being conducted at the Mercedes research and development center in Palo Alto, California. When being interviewed, Mercedes R&D employee Gordon Peredo said that he expects this type of feature to be available in the real world sometime in the next decade.
Smart intersections communicate with the car to indicate when the light is red. In order for the technology to be fully rolled out, every intersection in America would need to upgrade to smart intersection status. And another problem is that the police would make less money too.
