Global Grind and Russell Simmons Acquire CelebrityTweet

Global Grind and Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons announced that they are acquiring CelebrityTweet.com. CelebrityTweet.com basically just aggregates tweets from celebrities that use Twitter. The acquisition terms are unknown, but it is apparent that the traffic of CelebrityTweet.com is dropping. CelebrityTweet.com launched in October 2008. Global Grind is buying the website for the data that is already there to build their own platform and database of tweets from celebrities.

SoBe Lifewater will continue to sponsor CelebrityTweet.com. Global Grind raised about $2.6 million in funding several months ago.
