Beijing Automotive Industry Holding has struck a tentative agreement to produce several models of Saab vehicles. Beijing Automotive will be allowed to make older versions of the Saab 9-3 and 9-5 in China. Beijing Automotive will not be allowed to prevent any separate deal that General Motors decides to make for Saab.

However the employment possibilities of 3,500 workers in Sweden is still a big question mark. GM was close to selling Saab to Koenigsegg last month but the deal fell through. Beijing Automotive’s deal with Saab “would be good for Sweden, good for China and good for Saab,” according to a Saab spokesperson.

GM is still negotiating with other Saab buyers such as Renco and Spyker Cars. GM bought a majority of Saab for $600 million in 1990. Then bought the rest of the company for $125 million in 2000.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is building a new phone called the Nexus One through a partnership with HTC. A lot of employees and testers have been tweeting about how cool the new phone is. The Great White Snark wrote that it is “like an iPhone on beautifying steroids.”

This new phone will be sold by and branded by Google as an unlocked phone. The Nexus One is expected to launch in January 2010 and it won’t be sold by any one carrier. Since it is unlocked, you will be able to use it with almost any existing GSM plan you have through a SIM card. The Nexus One is very fast, uses a Snapdragon chip, and has a high-res OLED resolution. The phone also has two microphones, no keyboards, and has a large built in camera. There is also a voice-to-text feature that allows you to say the words you want written in an e-mail and it gets automatically dictated.

The phone looks very similar to the HTC Passion. Below are some screenshots of the phone as seen on Engadget.

Former Indian Institute of Technology and Purdue University student Vikram Buddhi was sentenced today to about 57 months in prison. After that he will be on 3 years of supervised release. The reason for his arrest was because he posted hate messages in 2006 to former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney, and their wives. He also called for the bombings of U.S. buildings. Buddhi is a 38 year old Purdue PhD student.

Buddhi can attempt to appeal the sentence at a court in Chicago within the next 10 days. Buddhi already went to prison April 2006. The months he spent in prison back then will most likely be deducted in his next sentence. Buddhi fired his own lawyer and represented himself. He said the trial had been unfair after the judgment. Judge James T. Moody gave an order that Buddhi will be charged today.

Earlier this month a writer over at Oregon Media Central received a legal threat over a tweet. Someone was posting funny and embarrasing videos of two anchors at KOIN-TV, a CBS affiliate. The YouTube user was named “kointastic.”

When the Oregon Media writer did a search for kointastic on YouTube, all the videos were removed. The account was closed about a day after the videos were uploaded. The Oregon Media writer sent out the following tweet:

Anyone see the behind-the-scenes @KOIN_Local_6 videos posted by “KOINTASTIC” before the account was closed? http://3.ly/vBq

The tweet linked to the seach results page on YouTube for the videos that were disabled. Below is an e-mail that KOIN-TV news director Lynn Heider sent to the Oregon Media writer:

From: Lynn Heider
Date: Thu, Dec 3, 2009 at 11:55 AM
Subject: Remove video links from your Twitter account
To: Oregon Media Central

The “kointastic behind the scenes video” lifted by one of your followers from YouTube, was stolen.
That is the property of KOIN Local 6. Kindly remove that posting and link so that we don’t have to pursue legal action.

Thank you.

Then there was a some more back-and-forth:

“Oh, there are no videos there, just dead links showing where the videos used to be. Are you sure that’s a problem?” said the Oregon Media writer.

“Thank you. If the links won’t play we won’t pursue it,” stated the KOIN-TV director.
