Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has acquired Sentillion, a healthcare software company. The financial terms were undisclosed. The deal will close in 2010.
“Microsoft and Sentillion share a vision of a connected health system in which the free and rapid flow of information, coupled with streamlined access to a hospital’s myriad healthcare applications, empowers doctors and nurses to perform their roles with greater insight, speed and effectiveness,” stated Microsoft corporate VP of the Health Solutions Group Peter Neupert. “As a result, our products and strategies are a natural fit. Joining efforts with Sentillion will allow us to amplify and accelerate the impact we can make in health IT and health globally.”
Sentillion software is used in over 1,000 hospitals across 160 healthcare organizations. Below is the full press release:
General Motors is investing $336 million in the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant to begin the production of the Chevrolet electric vehicle with extended-range.
This means GM is spending a total of $700 million in Chevrolet Volt related investments in the state of Michigan across 8 facilities. Detroit-Hamtramck will have the final assembly plant. Grand Blanc will be where the tooling will take place. Brownstown Township will manufacture the lithium ion batteries. Bay City will manufacture the camshafts and connecting rods. And Flint will take care of the stampings and the 1.4L engine generator.
Remember the classic Nintendo game Paperboy? Well its on its way to the iTunes App Store and it will work for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Elite Systems is the company behind the Paperboy iPhone game. Paperboy was originally developed by Atari. Paperboy will be available in classic and 3D mode.
San Diego Charges football player Shawne Merriman is suing Tila Tequila, citing that she lied and damaged his reputation. At the U.S. District Court, Merriman claimed that Tequila posted lies on her website about how he beat her up.
Tequila’s website claims that Merriman “choked and attacked her.” Tequila also claimed that Merriman “sleeps with minors and forces them to take drugs.” Merriman is not suing Tequila for defamation. Instead he is suing her for intentional interference with contract, trademark infringement, and unfair competition.
Bloomberg has bought out New Energy Finance, a United Kingdom based company that publishes news about carbon and clean power. This acquisition has taken place shortly after the finance publication company bought out BusinessWeek.
“This acquisition is the next step in Bloomberg’s initiative to develop and promote the carbon and clean energy markets,” stated Bloomberg Chairman Peter T. Grauer. “Carbon and clean energy issues touch every segment of the global economy, and are of increasing importance to our customers. Bloomberg’s vision is to be the leader in information, analytics and trading architectures to support low-carbon energy solutions.”
Motorola decided to take a more sophisticated approach for the Milestone mobile phone. The Milestone is the European version of the Droid. Some of the text messages that Tiger Woods sent out to one of his eight mistresses Rachel Uchitel has been leaked on the Internet. Judging by the text messages, he sounds like an unhappy married man. Tiger is married to 29 year old former Swedish model Elin Nordegren.
Below are three text messages that Woods wrote:
1. “I know it’s brutal on you that you can’t be with me all the time,” wrote Woods to Uchitel in a text message, according to the New York Daily News. “I get it. It f—–g kills me, too. I finally found someone I connect with.”
2. Woods wrote that Uchitel is is “someone I have never found like this. Not even at home” in another text. And lastly
3. “I want you to lay next to me, lay on me or where ever you want to lay,” said Woods in a text message to Uchitel in a text message on November 9. “Why didn’t we find each other years ago. We wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
At the beginning of the year, Woods will be back in the golf course and get back to his professional life. Here’s a message to all politicians and athletes, if you decide to have an affair, do not leave a digital trail in the form of text messages.
