Apparently this offer is being circulated around in a Best Buy catalog. Interscope Records and Best Buy have partnered on a promotion where buying a copy will allow you to have a copy of TweetDeck for free. The funny part of the promotion is that TweetDeck is free anyway.
However this is no ordinary version of TweetDeck. The version that you get from buying a CD has a custom version that automatically follows 16 Interscope artists. Either way you can follow those artists yourself for free anyway. Interestingly Best Buy had a website up for the promotion which was Bestbuy.com/Tweetdeck but now it is offline. Was Best Buy embarrassed about the campaign? Very likely.

I was able to grab a screenshot of the website before it went offline. TweetDeck is highlighted in the screenshot because I used Google to search for “Best Buy” and “TweetDeck.”

During the holiday season Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced that sales of e-books has slid past the sales of paper books. Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos also mentioned that the Kindle was the most gifted product in the company’s history.
“We are grateful to our customers for making Kindle the most gifted item ever in our history,” stated Bezos. “On behalf of Amazon.com employees around the world, we wish everyone happy holidays and happy reading!”
Amazon.com said that the sale of the Kindle device has surpassed the 8GB iPod Touch and the Nuvi 260W GPS device. The high sales of the Kindle was probably one of the reasons for the spike in e-book sales.
Amazon also announced that December 14 was the busiest day of the season. Amazon processed sales of about 9.5 million items on that day.

Imeem has been fined $1.77 million by a U.S. district court judge after the company failed to appear in court for copyright infringement. The lawsuit was filed in October 21 by The Orchard Enterprises.
Imeem decided to shut down after being sued before selling assets to MySpace for less than $1 million. The Orchard Enterprises told Imeem to pay them for profits made from music belong to labels or pay $150,000 per copyright infringement instance according to Liz Gannes of GigaOM.
A MySpace company spokesperson said that MySpace was not involved in the lawsuit personally. In that case, it is likely that MySpace acquired the assets that were not involved in Imeem’s lawsuit. Imeem’s technology acquired by MySpace will be rolled into MySpace Music.
Imeem raised a total of $35 million in VC funding from Sequoia Capital, Morgenthaler Ventures, and Warner Music. Warner Music had also previously sued Imeem.

Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab is the 23 year old terrorist that attempted to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight in Detroit last week. Umar attempted to set off a device when he was aboard a plane that was preparing to land in the Detroit airport arriving from Amsterdam. The passengers and flight crew put out the flames that he was covered in and subdued him until the flight landed.
The passenger was taken to the University of Michigan hospital where he was treated for the burns. After that he was taken to a prison in Milan, Michigan. The device that Umar used involved pentaerythritol (PETN). A syringe was also recovered by the FBI from the flight which was also being used with the device. Umar was believed to be trained by Al-Qaeda terrorists in Yemen. Umar was previously an engineering student at University College in London.
Immediately after this incident took place, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Acting Administrator Gale Rossides sent out a memo about extra precautions to take:
