“God bless Tiger,” said Yahoo! CEO and President Carol Bartz during a talk at the UBS Media Conference earlier today. Yahoo! had a major increase in traffic due to the Tiger Woods controversy. Yahoo! Sports had an increase due to all the news, gossip, and the front page. Tiger Woods actually helped Yahoo! meet quarterly expectations. Bartz added that Yahoo! is focusing on improving revenue per search and maintaining their large audience. The company shows about 10 billion ads per day.
The HTC Bravo phone will be coming to the U.S. with the name HTC Passion. HTC Passion has a 3.7″ touchscreen and has a style that is similar to the HTC Touch2. The phone will also have 720p video playback, 3G, GPS, WiFi, and Android 2.0 operating system. The phone is expected to start shipping in January.
Adrianne Marie Curry is a American model that is known for being the first model to win at the TV show America’s Next Top Model. Curry is married to Christopher Knight, who is best known as Peter Brady on The Brady Bunch. The two met on VH1′s fourth season of The Surreal Life. After The Surreal Life, her and Knight started dating and were the stars of a show called My Fair Brady. That show ended in March 2008 so now Curry has a lot of free time on her hands. What is she doing now?

Global Grind and Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons announced that they are acquiring CelebrityTweet.com. CelebrityTweet.com basically just aggregates tweets from celebrities that use Twitter. The acquisition terms are unknown, but it is apparent that the traffic of CelebrityTweet.com is dropping. CelebrityTweet.com launched in October 2008. Global Grind is buying the website for the data that is already there to build their own platform and database of tweets from celebrities.
In late September Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) invited about 100,000 people. Google asked their Wave users what they would like to see added to the chatting, e-mailing, real-time content sharing service. People asked for more invites. Now Google Wave has close to about 1 million users.
LG Electronics has announced that the KP500 has hit 10 million in unit sales. The phone was launched in November 2008 and hit 5 million sales only less than 6 months ago. This is LG’s fifth phone to hit 10 million in total unit sales. Other phones that have hit this milestone include the LG Chocolate, LG Shine, the LG KP100, and the LG KG270. The Cookie KP500 was the fastest to hit the 10 million mark.
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has created a new Android application called Goggles. Google announced the new application at a search event. When you take a picture of an object, the application recognizes it and does a search on Google.com. Christa Quarles was a research analyst with Thomas Weisel. However there is a report that she has joined social gaming company Playdom as the company’s new CFO. Last year Quarles was ranked the fifth best brokerage analysts by Forbes. This indicates that Playdom is either interested in a buyer or is planning to go public sometime in the near future.
Playdom competitor Playfish sold to EA for $400 million. Another Playdom competitor Zynga.com is making hundreds of millions in revenues every year. Playdom’s business model has been proven by these two rivals. Playdom themselves raised $43 million in funding. The company is also inching towards $60 million in revenues this year.
