Sparkfun Free Day was largely a success as the Twitter hashtag #sparkfun became a “trending topic.” Sparkfun Free Day is a promotion setup by Sparkfun.com that gives away about $100,000 in free electronics.

The popularity of the hashtag caused a server outage and led the service to go offline. As a result, many frustrated contest participants vented on Twitter. I’ve embedded a widget below that shows people venting and giving their opinion about #sparkfun.
