In celebration of our partnership with BBC’s Top Gear show and the Detroit Auto Show which is taking place about 30 miles from the Pulse2 headquarters, I have decided to compile a list of 20 of the geekiest cars that I have seen on the Internet.

20. If The Little Mermaid had a car, then this would be it.
This car was on display at the Burnaby’s Hats off Day Show and Shine in Vancouver. Some people are calling it the hippie cousin of Herbie. There is a fountain on the hood and it is covered in many things related to nature. I’d classify the owner of this vehicle as a “green geek.” Here is a video tour of the Beetle.

19. Organ Car
I don’t know what kind of car was used here originally, but some nerd actually had the time to strip out the original parts and put together a car that can play an organ while you’re driving.

18. Space Invaders Vehicle
Another classic video game lands on a car.

17. The Halo Warthog Vehicle
Unfortunately you won’t be able to shoot at the Master Chief with this hog, but its the closest Halo vehicle I have seen making it to reality.

16. Mad Max V8
The Mad Max V8 Interceptor (Ford Falcon XB GT) was spotted on Google Street View in New South Wales, Australia.

15. Digg License Plate
Kevin Rose is the man and all, but a Digg license plate on a yellow Volkswagen bug deserves to be labeled as one of the geekiest cars on the Internet.

14. Laptop on the hood, Rubik’s Cube on the roof, glasses on the front.  Yup, definitely a geek car.
I don’t know who this car belongs to, but this is one of the geekiest cars I’ve ever seen.  Only problem is that I don’t know how the driver will be able to see through the windshield when it is covered with a laptop monitor screen covered in binary code.

13. This Mazda 3 owner really loves pi.
This Mazda owner has a license plate that says MMMMPI and if you click the image to look closer, you will notice that this person also added the extra decimals for the pi number.

12. Apparently this Toyota Celica owner loves Firefox
I would love to see this exact car driven by Vin Diesel in The Fast and the Furious instead of the Supra.

11. Subaru Ecto-1 Ghostbusters Car
I’m pretty sure that the original Ecto-1 was a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor, but this guy wanted to make his soccer mom Subaru into a replica instead.

10. Got some leftover floppies? You know where to put em’
This is the first car owner I have seen that has an appreciation for floppy disks today.  Personally if I were to deck my ride out with computer storage units, I would use those old school AOL CDs.

9. Keanu Reeves gets painted on a car. Really?  Ted from Bill & Ted? Why?
Every day when I walk to my car and see Keanu Reeves’ mug painted on the hood, I’d get annoyed about why I did it in the first place despite The Matrix being one of the best movies of all time.

8. Circuit Car
Sunny day, shiny rims, funny hat, and car designed to look like a circuit-board.  Major geek cred here.

7. Triangular Hover Board
OMG!  If I happen to be on my driveway shoveling and one of these rolled by, then I would not know what to do but go back to shoveling a lot more confused than before.

6. The Chevrolet Impala made for cube dwellers
This is the second car I have seen covered in sticky notes.  The first one being in the Street View list I put together earlier this week.  This is a great way to remember your to-do list at the beginning of the day.

5. Scion goes overboard with flat screens
GEEK ALERT! This Scion hatchback has three-too-many  LCD screens popping out.

4. Trekkie Van Driver
This van, owned by a trekkie, has been converted into a U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-7 shuttlecar.  Either this thing is out exploring deep space or it is delivering packages on Earth.

3. R2-D2 peeps out of a Honda Del Sol
Nothing says “hello ladies” like R2-D2’s head sticking out of a Honda Del Sol.

2. Pac Man Racer
This is one of the few geeky cars I have seen that has its own model.  Regardless I would actually love to drive this one around myself.  This looks like it was made in the 80’s judging on the bikini and hair cut style of the Vanna White of Pac Man cars.

1. Old School Telephone
Hi old school telephone car, you’re #1 because only geeks would be nostalgic about these even though they have a perfectly good and expensive iPhone.

I think R2-D2 might be the geekiest since it appears that might have taken the most work. I do wonder how any of these guys ever gets a date….geez!

  2. Salt Lake Used Cars says:

Maybe someone will do an Avatar car…It could run on unobtainium!

  3. gino says:

I like the way they do this cars. I think it will be cuter is they can also show some car with trailer, where in they can customize some of the cheap hitches and the trailer also. That will be a great car accessory.
