General Motors Triples Opel Investment, Teams Up With Apriso and HP

General Motors has tripled their investment around their Opel and Vauxhall units and scaled back on public loan guarantees. GM said that they would pitch €1.9 billion ($2.6 billion) to Opel and ask for less than €2 billion in government loan guarantees. GM will provide €600 million for fixing up Opel in Germany and Vauxhall in Britain. [NYT]

General Motors has also teamed up with Hewlett Pacakrd and Apriso for battery assembly operations. GM is working with Apriso to develop enterprise software for making sure that the Chevrolet Volt battery assembly ends up running smoothly. Hewlett Packard will be implementing Apriso’s FlexNet software at the Volt battery assembly plant. []
