Twitter is getting close to a major milestone: 10 billion tweets. About four months ago Twitter hit about five billion tweets. Counting the number of tweets is made possible by looking at the URL of any tweet that is sent out. For example, I can tell that Twitter co-founder Biz Stone sent out the 9,901,323,740 tweet since the URL for one of his most recent tweets is: http://twitter.com/biz/status/9901323740. GigaTweet is actively tracking the tweet numbers. [Mashable]
