Samsung operates two separate trademark systems for software and hardware. Samsung recently acquired the trademark for Android hardware. What this means is that other manufacturing companies will be prohibited from selling hardware with Android software running on it without permission. The trademark originally belonged to local supplier Triplex. [Engadget]
