Nokia Acquires Geographic Intelligence Company MetaCarta

Nokia has acquired private geographic intelligence company MetaCarta. Nokia plans to use MetaCarta’s technology for local search and other services. MetaCarta was founded in 2001 and is based in Cambridge, Mass. MetaCarta has a partnership with Microsoft for providing its Geographic Search and Referencing Platform to the Microsoft Vine service.
